Kathy Greenlee Confirmed as Assistant Secretary of Aging

By Richard Shank

Kathy Greenlee was confirmed by the U.S. senate as the next Assistant Secretary of Aging in the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Her appointment puts her in a close working relationship with her former colleague from Kansas, former Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, the new Secretary of Health and Human Services.

Greenlee is known as an advocate for home- and community-based services (HCBS) and previously served as Secretary of Aging in Kansas. She has sought policies that rebalance long-term care funding priorities so that more funds are directed to HCBS than institutional care.
