The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) introduced a new Web site designed to help businesses address workplace weight-loss issues. LEANWorks! was developed in response to a demand for information by businesses throughout the country. It is free and has been developed with small- and mid-sized companies in mind.
The CDC utilized evidence-based interventions that have been proven to support weight loss and improve nutrition. LEANWorks! helps employers calculate the costs of obesity for their organization and provides program examples of ways in which those costs can be reduced (i.e., through fitness programs, health education, weight-management programs, etc.).
