MATHER PAVILION COMPLETES SIGNIFICANT RENOVATION

Senior Living Community’s Renovations Include First and Second Floor Common Areas, Including the Addition of Apartments for Mather Gardens Residents

Evanston, IL- March 14, 2006, Following a multi-million dollar renovation to the 3rd floor of Mather Pavilion in 2002 to provide a state-of-the-art memory support center, Mather LifeWays announced today the completion of expansion and significant enhancement of Mather Pavilion. These enhancements include extensive renovation to the first and second floor common areas and resident suites on the second floor; the relocation of Medicare-certified suites to the 4th floor — eight suites to be provided; and  the addition of assisted living apartments on the first floor for residents moving from Mather Gardens.

The goal of the apartment renovation is to modernize, refresh and create a home-like setting for the residents and their families. In addition, the residential rooms were transformed from semi-private accommodations to ten private apartments consisting of a living room with a kitchenette and bathroom. These renovations will ensure that residents continue to receive the highest quality of care. Mather LifeWays continues to invest in and improve its current communities to expand services and enhancements to better serve its residents. This effort is independent of Mather LifeWays’ proposed plans to build a new senior living community on Davis Street and Hinman Avenue.

Mather Pavilion is known for its quality care and cutting edge offerings including the latest in dementia care; high levels of nursing and CNA job satisfaction; and an innovative volunteer program. In addition, the Mather LifeWays communities boast an industry-high resident and family satisfaction rate; 98.7% of residents and family members surveyed by Mather LifeWays in 2005 “agree” or “strongly agree” that Mather Pavilion provides overall good services and 93% of those surveyed are satisfied with their decision to move to a Mather LifeWays community.

The Evanston-based senior living organization committed to providing quality housing, services and care for older adults, previously announced plans to build a premier, continuing care retirement community in Evanston. Upon city approval, the new community will be developed on the site of its two existing buildings, Mather Gardens and Mather Place at The Georgian. Proposed to be Phase I of the new community, residents of Mather Gardens will select apartments at Mather Pavilion, Mather Place at The Georgian and Mather Place of Wilmette. Mather Gardens will remain open through 2006.

“After years of experience in the senior living industry, I am extremely proud of the high satisfaction rates and quality of care provided by Mather Pavilion,” adds Mary Leary, CEO of Mather LifeWays. “From hundreds of volunteers to the dedication of CNAs and Nursing staff, Mather Pavilion is an outstanding community. We see this renovation as another way to raise the bar and continue to improve the quality of care and services offered to older adults.”
