Empower Online

A Resource and Support Program for Working Caregivers

It is well known that caring for someone with a chronic illness is stressful and takes an enormous physical and emotional toll on caregivers. And while there are some courses available about how to care for others with chronic illnesses, this course is exclusively focused on self-care of the caregiver.

Developed by Mather LifeWays Institute on Aging with the support of the American Business Collaboration for Quality Dependent Care (ABC), Empower Online is a eight-week, online educational course that will help you:

  • Learn about and help manage the ambiguities of self-care and/or recipient-care while caring for someone with a chronic medical condition
  • Cope and manage stress and emotions such as fear and sadness
  • communicate more effectively with friends, family, health care providers, and coworkers
  • find additional caregiver resources

Classes can be accessed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
