Evanston, IL. (August 20, 2009) – As new residents get ready for the October opening of The Mather, named the nation’s “Best Proposed Continuing Care Retirement Community,” Mather LifeWays is moving forward with phase two of the community. The senior living residence in Evanston, IL will ultimately comprise two buildings, the second of which is scheduled to open in 2011 on the south side of Davis Street. Apartment home reservations for the south building began in late June.
“Despite a challenging economy, Mather LifeWays is moving forward with phase two of The Mather,” said Mary Leary, President and CEO of Mather LifeWays. “We are thrilled that we have secured 29 new sales contracts for the new building within the first 30 days of sales.”
Completion of phase one is on schedule, with residents moving to their new apartment homes throughout the month of October. “New residents of The Mather will add vitality to the downtown Evanston neighborhood,” explained Leary. “Not only will The Mather bring new residents to Evanston, we will be adding new employees as well.”

Last year, The Mather was named the nation’s “Best Proposed Continuing Care Retirement Community” by the National Active Retirement Association.
Evanston Workforce to Expand
In support of The Mather, Mather LifeWays will be adding more than 100 full and part-time employees to its Evanston workforce over the next six to nine months. These positions will include both salaried and hourly jobs ranging from building services, dining and food service, to human resources and accounting staff.

Reservations for South Building Now Underway
Prospective residents of The Mather South have the opportunity to select residences from 101 apartment homes and more than 18 floor plans. The Mather sales team is now accepting 10 percent fully-refundable deposits for the south building.
Mather LifeWays is pursuing Gold Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) status for The Mather South. “Mather LifeWays is committed to implementing sustainable environmental programs and practices throughout The Mather,” explained Leary.
The Mather will feature a 10,000-square-foot fitness center complete with a 20-meter indoor lap pool, whirlpool, sauna, steam showers and day spa; seven dining venues and lounges, including rooftop dining with views of downtown Evanston, Lake Michigan and Chicago’s skyline; 24-hour concierge service; and “plant-your-own” garden plots as part of nearly two acres of lush gardens. As a Continuing Care Retirement Community, The Mather will also offer onsite health care, should residents ever need it.
