By giving well, you’re HELPING others Age Well

With your help, anything is possible

In 2016, Mather LifeWays touched the lives of 140,364 older adults. These adults found new ways to connect to the people around them in our neighborhood programs. They benefited from breakthroughs from our Institute on Aging. Most of all, they gained the confidence and opportunities to pursue lifelong passions with a plan for the future. And all of this was made possible, in part, by the generous support of donors, including Mather LifeWays residents, customers, and compassionate people like you.

As the charitable arm of Mather LifeWays, Mather Possibilities provides financial support for initiatives that would not otherwise be possible through Mather LifeWays operating budget. Donations to Mather Possibilities help us serve more older adults in more places across the country, and even around the world. As a charitable contribution, your gift to Mather Possibilities is tax-deductible, and you will receive a gift acknowledgement for your records.

The power of possibilities

It all started with an act of charity

Mather LifeWays has a history of philanthropy that goes back to our beginnings. We were established in 1941 with a bequest by Alonzo Mather for the specific mission of creating a home for widows who had lost their incomes when their husbands passed away.

Built on this foundation of Alonzo’s altruism, Mather LifeWays welcomes the generosity of others to help support our mission of creating Way to Age Well. For example, a resident of one of our senior living residences, Spencer Powell, left a bequest of $5 million, which funded a major brain health research project and education program by Mather LifeWays Institute on Aging. Because of Mr. Powell’s bequest, we’ve helped thousands of older adults learn to improve their own brain health.
